12 Apostles Ride (1 or 2 days – 155km): Warrnambool to Apollo Bay
The Peloton will take you along the Great Ocean Road through the rich dairy country of western Victoria from Warrnambool, past the Bay of Islands, on through the fishing town of Peterborough to the beautiful coastal village of Port Campbell. From here you ride past the Loch Ard Gorge and through the breathtaking scenery of the 12 Apostles National Park.
Your ability and fitness will be challenged as the landscape changes from coastal undulations to mountain climbs through rain forest and fern-tree gullies of the Otway Ranges, as you head to Lavers Hill. Your efforts will be rewarded when you descend out of the mountains into Apollo Bay.
There is plenty of scope to rest along the way and to take in the scenery, as well as to visit some of the many tourist spots on the south-west coast. You can ride all or part of this ride, and still have a great day. Just pack your bike on the trailer and jump in the support vehicle if you want a rest.
This ride can just as easily be a weekend ride with an overnight stay in Port Campbell.
